The only visible damage is the cover for battery compartment. Recently for some reason when the needle is folded out numbers on screen come and go. When the needle is unfolded display temperature numbers will come and go. For sale is a used Thermoworks thermapen.

I do not know how much longer it will work or maybe this is a simple repair. Overall it is in excellent condition. It has had light residential use for testing meat temperature or making yogurt. I damaged the soft plastic slightly when testing batteries.

Since I do not have replacement batteries it may just be that needs new. I purchased this new from Thermoworks. Again, something is wrong with this unit. The thermapen work like normal but there is a connection issue.

Overall light use. Sometimes it does not happen at all other times happens a number of until you find position that works. I did file a claim with Thermoworks and purchased replacement so no longer need this one. In the end with a little movement you can find spot that works or it just takes moment for numbers to display.

The pen is usable and detects the temp like normal. So it was only used a handful of times per month. Maybe it just needs a cleaning.
